Industrial Relations in a Changing Economy: Japan’s Experience

This paper intends to analyze new trends of economic structure, company organization, labor market, and industrial relations under the transformation of Japanese society into knowledge economy in 1990s. The final issues are the new problems of Japanese industrial relations under knowledge economy. To understand the issues, this paper identifies the definition of knowledge economy in the global level and analyses the new phenomena of economic activities as well as structure of Japanese society. Then it recommends some policies to solve these problems of industrial relations under knowledge economy.
